Brookside is the oldest neighbourhood in Riverbend. Houses here were built in the 1960s and 1970s. The average home size is about 2000 square-feet, and these houses are typically quite expensive because of the location, the lot sizes and the size of the homes. There are only a few townhouses in the neighbourhood and a few lowrise apartments. About 80% of Brookside homes are owner-occupied. There is only one school in the community: Brookside Elementary. The neighbourhood is pinned between the river valley and Whitemud Drive. It is a great location for quick access to the rest of the city via the freeway, and is surrounded by trails and parkland.
