Queen Alexandra (known as Queen Alex for short) is a University Area neighbourhood on the south side of Edmonton. It is located south of Whyte Avenue between 109th Street and 104th Street and runs to 67th Avenue. It’s a tall, skinny neighbourhood with long blocks, tree lined streets and an excellent location. Home construction ranges from pre-war homes to 1960s and 1970s walk-up lowrise apartments which comprise about 56% of the neighbourhood. About three-quarters of the neighbourhood is renters because of the proximity to the University of Alberta. Property values are very high in the area for the same reason – getting a renter is no problem for investors, and so demand in the area is very high. Schools in the community include Queen Alexandra Elementary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and Strathcona High School,
