Queen Alexandra (known as Queen Alex for short) is a University Area neighbourhood on the south side of Edmonton. It is located south of Whyte Avenue between 109th Street and 104th Street and runs to 67th Avenue. It’s a tall, skinny neighbourhood with long blocks, tree lined streets and an excellent location. Home construction ranges from pre-war homes to 1960s and 1970s walk-up lowrise apartments which comprise about 56% of the neighbourhood. About three-quarters of the neighbourhood is renters because of the proximity to the University of Alberta. Property values are very high in the area for the same reason – getting a renter is no problem for investors, and so demand in the area is very high.
